Joe Wright, Associate Pastor

Many of you have been introduced to Pastor Joe Wright by way of the internet or through an email with these words, This pastor has GUTS! He received his title due to a Prayer of Repentance which he prayed in 1996 before the Kansas House where a number of politicians walked out on him in protest! The next day, radio broadcaster Paul Harvey featured the story on his radio program heard around the nation and most of you know, the rest of the story. Mr. Harvey had the largest positive response in his, then 32 year broadcast history. Many now call it the prayer that won, perhaps because it is more relevant today than it was back then! Bro. Joe, as he is known to most, served as Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas for almost 20 years before his retirement, at the end of 2006. Pastor Wright is originally from Lexington, Kentucky, and while serving our country in the United States Army, married his high school sweetheart, Lois, in 1961. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this next year! Joe and Lois have one daughter, Laura, and a granddaughter, Sydney, who both live in Wichita.  He presently is serving as Associate Pastor and conducts the 8:30am Service at The Summit.
